The Micronauts is the solo project of composer and producer Christophe Monier. He decided to become a musician at age 4 after listening to “The Firebird” by Igor Stravinsky. Then he learned classical piano, classical and jazz guitar. One of his professors in college of art was Iannis Xenakis. Monier is also half of the deep house band Rituel and runs the label Micronautics. Other projects he was involved are Discotique, The Eurostars, Impulsion and Nature.

The Micronauts begin in the mid 90s as a duet made of Christophe Monier and George Issakidis. The first track, “Get Funky Get Down”, is also the first track to be remixed by Daft Punk. Quickly it’s the turn of The Micronauts to remix many artists, such as The Chemical Brothers, OMD, Underworld and Death In Vegas. Follows the signing on Science, a sub-label of Virgin UK, and the release of the single “The Jag” in 1999, with a music video made by Hollywood director Gregg Araki. The beginning of 2000 sees the release of the mini-album “Bleep To Bleep”, including the track “Baby Wants To Bleep”.

In the middle of 2000, Christophe Monier decides to pursue solo the adventure The Micronauts. He remixes Madonna and Mirwais, amongst others. In 2004, he launches the label Micronautics to release its own material without intermediary, in real time. The label’s style is typical of The Micronauts, an eclectic mixture of house, techno and electro, tending heavily toward acid and experimental sounds. Success is immediate thanks to “High Rise”, a hit on the underground techno scene.

Two years later, Vitalic’s label Citizen Records signs The Micronauts, and Micronautics is paused. A double CD is released in September 2007, made of a new album, “Damaging Consent”, and of the compilation “A Remixes Retrospective”. On the album is included the song ”Reaction”, which has a music video directed by Danakil (aka Cyrille de Vignemont).

After a period spent working as a producer, remixer and sound engineer, Christophe Monier relaunches his label Micronautics in 2012.

The Micronauts est le projet solo du compositeur et producteur Christophe Monier. L’écoute à l’âge de 4 ans de « L’Oiseau de feu » d’Igor Stravinsky lui procure son premier choc esthétique et le pousse à devenir musicien. Il étudie ensuite le piano classique, la guitare classique et jazz. Un de ses professeurs en fac d’art est Iannis Xenakis. Aujourd’hui, Monier est aussi la moitié de Rituel et dirige le label Micronautics. Les autres groupes dont il a fait partie sont Discotique, The Eurostars, Impulsion et Nature.

Le 1er morceau, « Get Funky Get Down », est aussi le 1er morceau à être remixé par les Daft Punk. Rapidement, c’est au tour de The Micronauts de remixer de nombreux artistes, tels que The Chemical Brothers, OMD, Underworld et Death In Vegas. Puis c’est la signature sur Science, un label de Virgin Angleterre, et la sortie en 1999 du maxi « The Jag », accompagné d’un vidéoclip réalisé par le metteur en scène hollywoodien Gregg Araki. Début 2000 sort le mini-album « Bleep To Bleep », avec notamment le titre « Baby Wants To Bleep ».

Au milieu de l’an 2000, Christophe Monier décide de poursuivre en solo l’aventure The Micronauts. Il remixe entre autres Madonna et Mirwais. Il lance en 2004 un label, Micronautics, pour sortir sa musique sans intermédiaire, en temps réel. Le style du label est typique de celui de The Micronauts, un mélange inclassable de house, de techno et d’électro tendant fortement vers l’acid et l’expérimental. Le succès est immédiat grâce à « High Rise », un hit sur la scène techno underground.

Deux ans plus tard, The Micronauts signe sur Citizen Records, le label créé par Vitalic, et Micronautics est mis en veille. Un double CD sort en septembre 2007, composé d’un nouvel album, « Damaging Consent » et de la compilation « A Remixes Retrospective ». Sur l’album se trouve notamment le morceau « Reaction », qui bénéficie d’un vidéoclip réalisé par Danakil (alias Cyrille de Vignemont).

Après une période consacrée à travailler comme réalisateur artistique, remixer ou ingénieur du son, Christophe Monier relance Micronautics en 2012.
